One of the largest and most comprehensive folk museums in Norway is located only a 10 minutes' walk from the centre of Molde.
The Romsdal Museum was established in 1912 and portrays buildings and interesting interiors from the whole region. The town street "Bygata" shows typical Molde town houses from the pre-war period. Get a guided tour or wander around on your own. The museum is situated in a beautiful park area with benches where you can relax, there is a duck pond and a pavilion with a great view over the city, the fjord and mountains.
The visitor centre "Krona" opened in 2016 and offers a permanent exhibition as well as temporary exhibitions, café, museum shop, local history library and the Bunad studio. Here you can see skilled artisans at work making reconstructed folk costumes from Romsdal. The museum is family friendly and we have several activites for children.
